Why should I earn a FinancialSmarts Badge?
FinancialSmarts digital badges allow students to represent the skills and knowledge acquired through the completion of our financial literacy programs. They are important because they provide evidence to others (possibly future employees!) that you have the responsibility and initiative to take control of your financial future.
Badges can be uploaded to digital portfolios and social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and they can even be added to email signatures!
The following FinancialSmarts programs offer badges for completion:
CashCourse is a free, online financial education resource designed specifically for college and university students. Created with input from real students and universities, CashCourse equips students with information that helps them make informed financial decisions, from orientation to graduation and beyond.

UMBC VITA Badge
UMBC VITA Badge - Level 2
This badge is recognition of service as an IRS certified volunteer income tax preparer. When a badge earner participates for multiple years they will move up in level. Year 1 would be considered level 1, year two would be considered level 2.Badge earners will have completed an advanced IRS certification and completed an additional 25 hours of tax preparation in year 2 to earn a level 2 badge.
